My sisters and brothers,
There are several things going on this week that might be
of interest to you. First and foremost, it’s National
Catholic School Week. A time for us to remember the great
blessings that our School has been not only to our
children, but also to our community. Nothing activates a
community quite like a Catholic School. This week we will
also be celebrating Candle Mass Day, the Presentation of
the Lord on Tuesday (Feb. 2). This is the day when all the
candles used in our liturgical celebrations for the year
will be blessed. I invite all parishioners who would like
to have their personal candles blessed to bring them to
Tuesday, noon Mass, or on Wednesday (Feb. 3) School Mass.
Also at the School Mass, and the evening, we will have the
blessing of throats since it is the Feast Day of Saint
Blaise. If you would like to have your throat blessed on
Wednesday PLEASE plan to attend one of the masses that
day. It’s rather curious to want to receive the blessing
without being willing to attend the mass.
And less we forget, please plan to attend the Alpha and
Omega Dinner on Saturday night (Feb. 6) following Mass.
Alpha and Omega is in reference to the first and last, in
this case
the first and last course of a meal,
the appetizer and dessert. We will be seeing you around
the parish this week!
