I am Nancy Dillard and this is my 5th year at St. Joseph. I am retired from 33 years of teaching music and band in the public schools of Oklahoma and Texas. I play and sing with a local concert band, jazz band, orchestra and choir. I also teach some private lessons. In addition to the matchless gift of His Son and His Love, God has given us many wonderful things. I believe music to be a special one. It"s a wonderful tool to use to glorify Him. It is my goal at St. Joseph Catholic School that we learn to read, create, perform, enjoy and appreciate music. We sing, play instruments, conduct, perform in programs and musicals and also learn to raise our voices in praise at Mass. 3rd through 5th graders learn to play the flutophone and all students learn the basics of playing rhythm and chording instruments. We also have a band program open to any 4th or 5th grade student who wish to learn to play a band instrument, such as trumpet, trombone, clarinet, saxophone, flute or drums. Many students also participate in the Tri-State Music Festival in the spring, playing instruments, singing, or playing piano. Most bring home superior medals and certificates.
Some additional information we recently learned about Ms. Dillard:
Born in Tonkawa, OK
She received her degrees at both SWOSU and NOC
She has 2 daughters, 10 grandchildren ( 5 boys / 5 girls), and 1 great grand daughter.
Her favorite moments at St Joes are the various music programs- she says the students always come through.
The favorite part of school day is when the students are all paying attention and asking relevant questions.
